About The Position

The Custom Panel Shop Foreman oversees the execution, quality control, and coordination of all custom panel projects. Reporting to the Manufacturing Project Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing shop personnel, quality control, training & mentoring, technical leadership and maintaining high standards of safety. This position requires strong leadership, technical knowledge of electrical equipment, and excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety is a top priority
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment.
  • Manage tooling, equipment, and consumables required for project execution.
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Supervise, schedule and direct shop technicians and assemblers.
  • Uphold and drive current Process and standards with team members on the production floor.
  • Verify and ensure Kitting of panels is correct and ready for Panel technician.
  • BOM Enclosure Labels Drawing Work Orders
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Project Manager to prioritize and execute projects based on labor and material availability.
  • Support the coordinate effort with other department leaders to share labor resources and meet company production goals.
  • Monitor staffing needs; participate in recruitment and onboarding efforts.
  • Provide performance feedback and support continuous evaluation efforts.
  • Assist the automation department with resource coordination and first of kind builds & panel project supervision.
  • Participate in project reviews, and post-project evaluations.
  • Own missing parts & feedback to PM / Manufacturing Leader
  • Manage critical path schedule & ensure adherence to project timelines, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Learn Smartsheet software, utilizing & bring efficiency & better visibility to the business.
  • Provide Daily Progress updates from current projects.
  • Manage and oversee Production efficiency with the panel technicians.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and documentation to guide builds.
  • Support in testing and troubleshooting of automation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with UL and safety standards; coordinate with engineering as needed.
  • Support and participate in FATs (Factory Acceptance Testing), including customer interaction.
  • Lead root-cause analyses and implement corrective actions for quality issues.
  • Be the technical leader for the build team, answering questions & providing support early & often as needed.
  • Support QA/QC Team, assist with training & ramp up additional qualified team members
  • Manage and oversee Quality Logs from panel rework.
  • Implement and adhere to quality control processes to uphold the company's product standards: Targeted zero craftmanship defect rate to customer Adherence to published electrical standards Inspection process applied in a consistent and efficient manner Inspection process applied in alignment with customer requirements and scheduled consistently about customer due dates
  • Act as a liaison during customer visits, FATs, and inspections.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management to resolve production or design issues.
  • Review internal drawing packages for accuracy and consistency.
  • Provide feedback to Project Managers to improve design for manufacturability.
  • Train and mentor technicians and apprentices on shop practices and procedures.
  • Mange and oversee new hire Checklist.
  • Lead long-term training initiatives focused on team development and technical growth.
  • Document best practices and lessons learned to improve shop efficiency.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance safety, quality, and throughput.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements in product construction as well as ancillary activities.
  • Implement best practices and lessons learned from previous projects to optimize future project execution.
