About The Position

The Custodial Worker cleans and services public, academic, and administrative areas as directed by management. This role involves executing tasks in a thorough, professional manner to ensure a clean, attractive, and safe environment with minimal interference to others. The worker performs custodial duties according to established standards and instructions, taking immediate action to correct any situation that negatively impacts the University's image or facility appearance. The employee is expected to observe and respect all department and organizational policies and procedures, seek assistance when needed, and work closely with customers to resolve environmental service problems and achieve goals. Courtesy, compassion, and respect towards visitors, faculty, students, and fellow employees are required. Adherence to The University of Toledo’s goals of excellence in education and research, supported by standards of conduct and ICare standards, is expected at all times.

Requirements

• High school Diploma, required
• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions
• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
• Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
• Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures
• Must have the ability to, as well as meet, the requirements to complete and maintain mandatory training per the University mandatory training policy pursuant to the deadlines set forth therein

• Perform custodial duties in accordance with established standards and instruction
• Takes immediate action to correct any situation, which detracts from the positive image of UT, or the attractive appearance of the facilities
• Observe and respect all department and organizational policies and procedures
• Seek assistance in understanding any procedure or policy, which you have questions or concerns about
• Work closely with customers to assure resolution of environmental services problems and attainment of environmental service goals
• Treats each visitor, faculty member, student, and fellow employee with courtesy, compassion and respect
• Adhere to The University of Toledo’s goals of excellence in education and research supported by a set of standards of conduct and ICare standards at all times
