About The Position

This position involves cleaning and servicing public, academic, and administrative areas as directed by management. The Custodial Worker is expected to execute tasks in a thorough, professional manner to ensure a clean, attractive, and safe environment with minimal interference to others. Duties must be performed in accordance with established standards and instructions. The employee is responsible for taking immediate action to correct any situation that detracts from the positive image of The University of Toledo or the appearance of its facilities. Adherence to all department and organizational policies and procedures is required, and employees should seek assistance for any questions or concerns regarding procedures or policies. The role also involves working closely with customers to resolve environmental services problems and achieve environmental service goals. The employee is expected to treat all visitors, faculty members, students, and fellow employees with courtesy, compassion and respect, and to adhere to The University of Toledo’s goals of excellence in education and research, supported by standards of conduct and ICare standards.

Requirements

• High school Diploma
• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions
• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
• Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
• Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures
• Ability to meet the requirements to complete and maintain mandatory training per the University mandatory training policy pursuant to the deadlines set forth therein
• Ability to constantly stand, reach, bend, twist, squat and kneel.
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs regularly.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds
• Ability to remove snow and ice from walkways.
• Ability to add/subtract, read and comprehend English.
• Ability to follow University safety practices.

• Perform custodial duties in accordance with established standards and instruction.
• Take immediate action to correct any situation, which detracts from the positive image of UT, or the attractive appearance of the facilities.
• Observe and respect all department and organizational policies and procedures.
• Seek assistance in understanding any procedure or policy, which you have questions or concerns about.
• Work closely with customers to assure resolution of environmental services problems and attainment of environmental service goals.
• Treat each visitor, faculty member, student, and fellow employee with courtesy, compassion and respect.
• Adhere to The University of Toledo’s goals of excellence in education and research supported by a set of standards of conduct and ICare standards at all times.
