About The Position

AMS is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodial Day Porter to support the daily cleanliness, maintenance, and overall condition of our campus. This role is essential in ensuring that school facilities remain safe, organized, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors throughout the school day. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced school environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of custodial or facilities experience
  • Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical handling procedures
  • Experience operating cleaning equipment (e.g., backpack vacuum, floor buffer, microfiber systems)
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to respond to campus needs and emergencies during the school day

Nice To Haves

  • Custodial or facilities experience in a school or similar environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain all areas of the campus, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, gymnasiums, cafeteria, and common areas
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors using appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms daily
  • Dust furniture, fixtures, baseboards, and equipment
  • Clean walls, windows, doors, and building fixtures
  • Collect and dispose of trash throughout the campus, including exterior areas
  • Launder towels and mop heads as needed
  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and HVAC filters
  • Apply wax or sealants to floors as directed
  • Assist with building security, including locking and unlocking doors and gates
  • Set up rooms for meetings, events, and daily cafeteria operations
  • Maintain and track cleaning supplies and equipment inventory
  • Notify leadership when supplies need to be reordered
  • Follow all chemical handling guidelines and safety regulations, including HAZMAT and SDS requirements
  • Maintain a safe and compliant working environment
  • Interact professionally with school staff and leadership
  • Respond to campus needs and emergencies (e.g., spills, safety concerns) in a timely manner
  • Report major repair needs to the Head of Operations/Facilities Manager
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including vacuums, floor buffers, carpet extractors, and other custodial tools
  • Safely use hand tools, small power tools, and ladders as needed
