About The Position

The Curriculum Technology Specialist provides hands-on technology support for academic laboratories, lectures, and experiential learning environments. This position plays a critical role in ensuring seamless technology operation during instructional activities, managing recordings of educational content, and supporting innovative learning experiences. Working closely with faculty and the other members of the Academic Operations Team, this specialist ensures technology augments curriculum delivery and enhances the student experience across all learning modalities. The Curriculum Technology Specialist is a full-time role reporting directly to the Director of Academic Operations and will be based at our Chicago campus. Requirements

  • Education: Associate’s degree in Instructional Technology, Digital Media Production, Information Technology, or related field required
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience may be considered
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience providing technological support in educational settings, preferably in higher education, medical education, or health sciences programs
  • Demonstrated experience with video recording, editing, and multimedia production
  • Hands-on experience supporting laboratory or clinical teaching environments
  • Experience with virtual reality systems or immersive learning technologies preferred
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with video recording equipment, cameras, microphones, lighting, and audio systems
  • Experience with video editing software (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Camtasia, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of lecture capture systems (Panopto, Echo360, Kaltura, or similar platforms)
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle) and video content management
  • Experience with VR hardware (Meta Quest, or similar) and educational VR applications
  • Understanding of classroom presentation technology including projectors, interactive displays, and control systems
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards for video captioning and multimedia content
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues independently
  • Soft Skills: Excellent customer service orientation with ability to remain calm under pressure during live teaching sessions
  • Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical faculty and students
  • Collaborative team player who works effectively with faculty, operations staff, and IT professionals
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple concurrent activities
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to respond quickly to changing priorities and urgent technology needs
  • Problem-solving mindset with ability to think critically and implement creative solutions
  • Additional Requirements: Ability to lift and transport equipment up to 40 pounds (cameras, tripods, VR equipment, mobile carts)
  • Capable of standing for extended periods during lab and lecture support
  • Ability to work in various teaching environments including laboratories, lecture halls, and simulation spaces
  • Manual dexterity for equipment setup, cable management, and VR device handling

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in medical education, health sciences, or clinical teaching environments
  • Knowledge of anatomy education and familiarity with anatomy software/applications
  • Background in instructional design or educational technology integration
  • Experience with 3D visualization, simulation technologies, or immersive learning tools

Responsibilities

  • Lab & Lecture Technology Support Provide on-site technical support for experiential learning ensuring seamless integration of all equipment, software, and digital tools
  • Set up, configure, and operate all classroom technology
  • Troubleshoot technical issues in real-time during all curricular activities to minimize disruption to teaching and learning
  • Coordinate with faculty prior to sessions to understand technological needs and ensure proper equipment configuration
  • Support use of specialized laboratory equipment, simulation technologies, and discipline-specific software applications
  • Manage equipment checkout and setup for mobile teaching carts and portable technology used across multiple learning space
  • Recording & Multimedia Production Operate recording equipment to capture any classroom activities required for educational use
  • Manage lecture capture systems and ensure reliable recording of scheduled sessions
  • Perform post-production editing including video trimming, audio enhancement, captioning, and addition of graphics or annotations
  • Upload and organize recorded content in the learning management system and institutional video platforms
  • Ensure recordings meet accessibility standards
  • Maintain and characterize all related educational media equipment including cameras, microphones, lighting, and recording devices to quickly address any needs with the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Archive and catalog educational media content for faculty and student access
  • VR & Anatomy Suite Technology Management Configure and maintain virtual reality equipment and applications in the Anatomy Suite for student learning experiences
  • Provide technical support to faculty and students on digital solutions in the anatomy suite
  • Troubleshoot VR hardware and software issues, ensuring optimal performance and user experience
  • Maintain and sanitize VR equipment according to health and safety protocols
  • Work with operations to ensure availability and coordination of equipment
  • Stay current with VR anatomy applications and recommend enhancements to support curriculum goals
  • Train faculty and students on proper use of VR equipment and safety protocols
  • Monitor system performance and coordinate with IT for software updates and technical maintenance
  • Faculty Collaboration & Training Consult with faculty on technology integration strategies for labs, lectures, and clinical teaching
  • Provide one-on-one training and just-in-time support to help faculty effectively use classroom technology, recording tools, and specialized educational software
  • Create and maintain reference guides and tutorials for commonly used technology in learning environments
  • Gather feedback from faculty on technology effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Assist faculty with technology preparation for special events, guest lectures, and interdisciplinary sessions
  • Operations Team Collaboration Work with the other members of the Academic Operations Team to coordinate technology support for scheduled teaching activities
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss technology needs, challenges, and upcoming academic events
  • Coordinate with AV specialists and IT staff to ensure integrated support for learning spaces
  • Assist with inventory management and equipment tracking for teaching technology
  • Support quality assurance processes and contribute to continuous improvement of technology services
  • Report to the Director of Academic Operations on technology utilization, issues, and recommendations
  • Maintain documentation of technology setups, procedures, and troubleshooting solutions
