About The Position

In this role you will inspect machined and fabricated parts for conformance to print/specifications and Amsted Rail workmanship expectations. You may be assigned to inspect raw materials and/or parts, commodities or services performed by sub-contractors to determine conformance to specification, requirements or print. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following essential functions satisfactorily: Adhere to plant-wide safety, ergonomics and environmental requirements, defined by Amsted Rail policy and procedures Possess an understanding of the manufacturing process, supporting production personnel in meeting functional and dimensional expectations as specified Assist in first piece inspection with confidence and accuracy Demonstrate a working knowledge of critical part dimension and apply to the inspection process Perform visual and dimensional inspection of parts Operate measuring equipment (e.g., auto gauge, bench gauge, roundness tester, and hardness tester) with efficiency and accuracy Mark items with details such as acceptance or rejection status Record inspection or test data as instructed, following established quality procedures Segregate and identify product per applicable procedure(s) Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems and assist in identifying and correcting these problems Discuss inspection results with those responsible for product Maintain work area cleanliness and organization throughout the shift Perform other duties as assigned, including basic equipment operation, product packing, and material handling To be considered a candidate must be able to meet the following qualifications: Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screening Lift, push & pull up to 50 lbs.
