About The Position

About being our Cultural Resources Project Manager As a Cultural Resources Project Manager, you will utilize your expertise for taking projects from initiation through completion. This will include directing archaeological survey, site recording, testing, data recovery, and construction monitoring; as well as conducting record searches, preparing site record forms, writing reports, and preparing project documentation. This full-time position may require travel out of town/state. Work hours and availability vary by project and weather conditions, and night and weekend shifts may be required.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in archaeology, geoarchaeology, or closely related field with Secretary of Interior (SOI) qualifications; demonstrated expertise in NEPA/SEPA, Section 106, and Executive Order 21-02 compliance; experience conducting WISAARD records searches.
  • Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to produce well-written, technically supported cultural resources documents complemented by proven project management abilities including scheduling, budget oversight, organization, and on-time delivery of high-quality work products.
  • Proven ability to lead archaeological survey, testing, and data recovery projects including documentation, evaluation, and treatment of Native American and historic-period archaeological resources.
  • Demonstrated client service and agency coordination experience; ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff members; strong problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record (no major/repeated violations in the past five years); ability to travel daily to job sites including remote, rugged terrain requiring 4x4 driving.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 - 7 years of relevant experience in Western Washington.
  • Specialized experience in precontact archaeology and/or geoarchaeology.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage and deliver cultural resources assessments from start to finish in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Develop scopes of work, budgets, and invoices for projects of varying scales and complexity.
  • Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team to integrate cultural resources work products into comprehensive technical reports and support environmental analyses and permit compliance.
  • Direct archaeological surveys, monitoring, and resource documentation; conduct archival research and develop historic and cultural contexts, evaluations, and impacts analyses meeting NEPA/SEPA, Section 106, and Executive Order 21-02 requirements.
  • Supervise project teams, provide technical guidance to field staff, mentor junior staff, and operate with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Lead and participate in client meetings; coordinate effectively with construction crews and tribal representatives.
