This position is part-time and does require every other weekend.   SUMMARY: The Culinary Cook is responsible for preparing high‑quality, nutritious meals for elders at A.G. Rhodes. This role ensures that all food is prepared according to dietary guidelines, elder care plans, and sanitation standards. The Cook plays a key part in creating a positive dining experience that supports elder health, comfort, and satisfaction. Works with fellow Culinary Services team members to ensure elder customer satisfaction at A.G. Rhodes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Prior culinary and supervisory experience
  • Basic understanding of Food Safety
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in the English language
  • Ability to follow menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines
  • Serv Certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Skilled Nursing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
  • Ensure meals are attractive, properly portioned, and served at appropriate temperatures.
  • Follow therapeutic diet orders and modify textures as required (e.g., pureed, soft, thickened liquids).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, food-prep areas, and equipment.
  • Monitor food inventory and assist with ordering and receiving supplies.
  • Label, date, and store food items according to safe-food-handling standards.
  • Assist with menu planning and recipe adjustments when needed.
  • Coordinate with Culinary Service Aides and Culinary Utility Aides to ensure smooth meal service.
  • Communicate elder preferences, concerns, or appetite changes to the Culinary Services Managers
  • Adhere to all state, federal, and facility regulations, including infection-control procedures.
