About The Position

Culinary Manager (Healthcare Setting) Join Our Team at Mountain Valley of Cascadia Are you a passionate leader with a heart for hospitality and healthcare? We’re looking for a Culinary Manager to lead our dietary team and create a dining experience that truly enhances residents' lives. In this role, you’ll oversee all aspects of our Culinary Department—ensuring high-quality meals, excellent service, and compliance with healthcare regulations—while building a strong, motivated team.

Requirements

  • Experience in food service management (healthcare or long-term care preferred)
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and basic nutrition
  • Ability to manage budgets, staffing, and department operations
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Passion for providing exceptional service to residents
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years’ experience in large quantity food preparation required.
  • Food Handlers permit if required per state regulations.
  • ServSafe Food Safety Certification
  • One or more of the following required: Certified Dietary Manager (CDM), Certified Food Protection Professional (CFPP) with the Dietary Manager’s Association Dietetic Technician, Registered, with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association; or, Certification with the American Culinary Federation
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in dietetic technology, dietetics, culinary arts, or foodservice management preferred.
  • One year of experience in a supervisory role preferred
  • Six months experience in a long-term care environment preferred.
  • One year of experience with therapeutic diet preparation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily operations of the Culinary Department
  • Ensure meals are nutritious, appealing, and tailored to resident needs and preferences
  • Collaborate with a Registered Dietitian to deliver high-quality nutritional care
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and company regulations
  • Oversee food ordering, budgeting, and inventory management
  • Supervise, train, and schedule culinary staff to ensure excellent service
  • Conduct meal rounds and gather feedback from residents and families
  • Ensure food safety, sanitation, and quality standards are consistently met
  • Participate in surveys, audits, and performance improvement initiatives
