About The Position

Oversees all food preparation, cooking, serving, and breakdown for assigned mealtimes and when requested or needed, supports weekend activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year’s food service experience
  • Ability to speak and write effectively.
  • Must maintain ServeSafe certification.
  • Must be familiar with Health Department Guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of commercial kitchen, equipment, and their use.
  • Ability to implement daily kitchen procedures, always displaying respect, and to provide training to enable residents to perform assignments needed for successful operation.
  • Must be familiar with Federal Confidentiality Laws.
  • Must have a valid NC Driver's license and be insurable by Hope Haven insurance program.
  • Will maintain CPR and First Aid certification as required.
  • Ability to lift and/or move 25 lbs. and occasionally manage 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals for assigned shift and supervise dining room and kitchen cleaning chores, ensuring meals are served on time and kitchen/dining area are clean.
  • Responsible for the disposal of food in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for correct food preparation and food handling.
  • Work with Culinary leadership in planning and implementation of kitchen/dining room procedures, including menu planning, cost, variety, and cost of food.
  • Responsible for being familiar with and implementing established policies and procedures, task lists, and guidelines.
  • Ensure cleanliness of kitchen equipment, notify leadership when equipment needs maintenance or is not in proper working condition.
  • Assist with inventory management.
  • Interact with all customers, residents, staff, volunteers, and other guests as a professional, demonstrating respect, appropriate communication, maintaining boundaries and with integrity.
  • Provide appropriate assistance to volunteers or visitors onsite when on duty.
  • Attend all Hope Haven required meetings
  • Be available and prepared for the health department and other inspections required by partner agencies
  • Maintain compliance with agency policies, procedures, and standards, upholding organizational values and regulatory requirements.
