About The Position

Eurofins Scientific is an international life sciences company that provides analytical testing services to clients across multiple industries, aiming to make life and the environment safer, healthier, and more sustainable. The company is a global leader in various testing services, including food, environment, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic product testing. This position involves supporting crystallization process development through laboratory experiments such as solubility screening, kinetic solubility, metastable zone width measurements, and laboratory-scale crystallization. The role also includes hands-on generation of solid-state characterization data using techniques like powder X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). Additionally, the scientist will analyze product samples for physical properties, including particle size distribution and shape, using optical microscopy and laser diffraction. Support for technical initiatives, including the design, installation, repair, and maintenance of specialized laboratory equipment, is also a key aspect of this role.

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience (two years of directly related industry experience is equivalent to one full-time year of college in related major)
  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Support crystallization process development activities of the group through laboratory experiments including solubility screening experiments, kinetic solubility and metastable zone width measurements, and laboratory-scale crystallization experiments.
  • Hands-on generation of solid-state characterization data using powder X-ray diffraction and thermal methods such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA).
  • Analysis of product samples for key physical properties including particle size distribution and particle shape using optical microscopy and laser diffraction particle size analysis.
  • Support of technical initiatives that may involve the design, installation, repair, and maintenance of specialized laboratory equipment.
