About The Position

Are you an established critical thinker who loves developing novel concepts to solve our nation's hardest problems? Are you searching to make impactful contributions to our country's integrated homeland and theater defense problems? If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL. We are seeking a Systems Engineer with deep experience in interceptor integration, space domain sensing, command and control, and project development to help build a novel software-in-the-loop capability for our sponsors. As a member of our team, you will help lead APL engineers across multiple disciplines, and interface directly with sponsors and partner organizations to construct an exciting product with high impact. As a Cross-Domain Command & Control Engineer... Your primary responsibility will be to be a leader in an outstanding team of APL engineers to build a novel software-in-the-loop simulation system of cross-domain command and control You will use your strong systems engineering background and experience to identify requirements, solve complex problems, and head off issues before delivery You will work to help develop an impressive project that links the space domain and missile defense through high-fidelity modeling and simulation

Requirements

  • Possess a Masters degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
  • Have 15+ years of experience including working with hardware and software solutions for solving complex space and missile defense problems
  • Are skilled in leading teams and developing project deliverables under challenging time constraints
  • Are willing and able to travel occasionally to sponsor and partner organization sites within the continental US
  • Hold an active Top Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess a PhD degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
  • Hold an active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Have experience with AFSIM and federated modeling tools
