About The Position

RICHMOND COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY The men and women of the Richmond County District Attorney’s office work each day in partnership with Law Enforcement and the people of Staten Island to pursue justice for victims of crime, to prevent crime in all its forms, and to promote the safety and well-being of all citizens of our Borough. THE ROLE The Richmond County District Attorney (RCDA) has an immediate opening for one (1) Crime Strategy Analyst for its Crime Strategies Unit (CSU). The mission of CSU is to collaborate with RCDA staff and criminal justice partners to identify crime drivers; identify patterns and trends of crime; gather and sort intelligence, to enhance prosecutorial outcomes through the application and implementation of intelligence driven prosecution. The applicant must demonstrate strong interest in criminal law and law enforcement; multimedia, and have skills including photo, audio, video editing and enhancement, as well as proficiency in social media applications. Primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: - Perform analytical work in the compilation and examination of complex data in criminal investigations involving but not limited to; homicides, narcotics, money laundering, criminal gangs and drug overdoses, both narcotics related and prescription related. - Review and analyze information gathered during criminal investigations as well as utilizing complex databases and analytical software. Prepare maps, charts, graphs, reports, spreadsheets and link analysis to support attorneys and law enforcement. - Analyze a wide variety of statistical data to identify emerging crime patterns and trends relevant to the work of the agency. - Working internally, and externally with strategic partners, to generate reports and data for crime prevention initiatives. - Performing forensic examinations and analysis of cell phone data, including phone record relationship analysis. - Using various databases to perform background and information searches, such as: eJustice, Webcrims, and multiple social media vehicles. - Performing data entry and processing crime data. - Performing forensic multimedia analysis to enhance evidence. - Testifying as necessary at Grand Jury, trials and hearings related to analysis. - Documenting activity in a timely fashion while adhering to office policies regarding retention, documentation and confidentiality. - Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

Nice To Haves

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.
  • Motivated with good creative and critical thinking skills and a structured analytical approach.
  • Proficiency in analytical software and/or experience using Penlink PLX, Geotime Desktop, Cellebrite products, ARCGIS Pro, and Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Familiar with gathering data from social media and other internet sites to create analytical reports.
  • Excellent command of Excel and PowerPoint, including familiarity with pivot tables and pivot charts.
  • Detail-oriented while meeting competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, research and professional interpersonal communication skills.
