About The Position

Responsible for analyzing and utilizing information on reported crimes, criminal patterns, and offender behavior to support crime prevention efforts, assist in the suppression of criminal activity, and aid in the identification and apprehension of offenders.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in public administration, business administration, political science or related field AND One (1) year experience as a Crime Analyst or in similarly related analytical work in management or law enforcement.
  • Completion of basic crime analyst training (e.g. ANACAPA, IALEA, or FLEAT).
  • Completion of Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Florida Law Enforcement Analyst Academy (FLEAA) State Certification or equivalent multidisciplinary analytical certification.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Drivers License.
  • Must be able to work a twelve (12) hour shift, rotating between dayshift and nightshift, including holidays, weekends, and mandatory overtime as needed.
  • A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
  • Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs.
  • Must be able to remain available to work when a public emergency or disaster occurs.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties of a Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) Specialist and RTCC Specialist II as the foremost priority and carries out additional Crime Analyst functions including statistical analysis and investigative support.
  • Prepares statistical analysis of offenses by district and patrol zone.
  • Requests to assist in investigations and decision making.
  • Generates and distributes maps relating to temporal crime events as well as bulleting, charts, and graphs.
  • Generates and distributes maps of sexual predators/offenders.
  • Reviews county intelligence bulletins and runs RMS queries in response.
  • Conducts comprehensive traffic accident studies with maps and other analysis.
  • Prepares Auto/MC theft tracking for grant funded task force.
  • Conducts meetings and presentations (i.e. neighborhood watches).
  • Prepares Narcotics buffer maps.
  • Attends depositions and court appearances.
  • Performs administrative duties such as monthly reports, documentation required by professional standards etc.
  • Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Must adhere to Federal, State, County, and local ordinances.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
