About The Position

The Crew Leader II - Athletics is responsible for the overall maintenance of athletic fields and support facilities. This role involves supervising and assisting crew members in accomplishing assigned tasks, providing instructional supervision to ensure proper maintenance, and reporting maintenance needs through the Maintrac program. Key duties include maintaining athletic fields free of trash and debris, performing general turf care such as sod cutting, repair seeding, and watering, and creating water schedules for all fields while inspecting irrigation systems monthly. The Crew Leader II ensures routine maintenance of equipment and tools, assists with daily athletic field maintenance tasks like dragging and lining fields, setting bases, watering infields, and cleaning/stocking restrooms. The position also involves meeting with vendors and suppliers for product discussions and ordering supplies, preparing daily staff assignments, coordinating with league coordinators to identify field needs and develop off-season maintenance projects, and supporting special events and tournaments, including stage setup and takedown. Adherence to all safety policies and procedures is required, along with performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years’ experience in Landscaping, Ballfield maintenance and Irrigation
  • One (1) year experience supervisory experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Texas Department of Agriculture non-commercial applicators license or the ability to obtain license within introductory period

Responsibilities

  • Provides instructional supervision to maintenance crew members to ensure proper maintenance of assigned facilities
  • Reports any maintenance items needing repairs, by inputting them in the Maintrac maintenance program
  • Maintains athletic fields free of trash and debris; and performs general, turf care to include sod cutting, repair seeding, and watering
  • Creates a water schedule for all athletic fields and inspect irrigation systems monthly
  • Ensures routine maintenance is done on all equipment and tools before use
  • Assists as needed in the daily general athletic field maintenance to include drag fields, line fields, set bases, water infields, and clean / stock restrooms
  • Meets with vendors and suppliers to discuss products used in repair work and ordering any supplies needed to complete these tasks
  • Prepares daily assignments for staff
  • Meets with league coordinators to identify the fields needed for play during the playing season
  • Coordinates with leagues to develop a list of maintenance projects to be addressed during the off season and works with foreman for approval
  • Supports special events and tournaments both City and private and helps with the set up and take down of the portable stage
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned
