About The Position

The Credit Analyst is responsible for independently analyzing and underwriting commercial loan requests, including new originations, renewals, and modifications. The role evaluates borrower financial performance, cash flow capacity, collateral support, and overall credit risk to determine the borrower’s ability to repay in accordance with bank credit policy and regulatory guidelines. The Credit Analyst prepares comprehensive written credit analyses that assess risk, profitability, and structural considerations, and assigns appropriate risk ratings. This position supports the bank’s commercial lending functions.

Requirements

  • 1 year of loan analysis or commercial lending experience required
  • Ability to adapt to growing business needs and structural changes.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial statement analysis.
  • Ability to analyze commercial and consumer financial statements and tax returns for individuals and business entities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite; experience with nCino and core banking systems (e.g., Horizon) preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present analysis to loan committee and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead with and model SSB&T’s core values, embedding them into data strategy, governance, and team culture.
  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and related credit information to assess borrower performance, repayment capacity, and overall credit risk.
  • Conduct credit investigations and evaluate key risks, mitigants, structural considerations, and risk rating recommendations.
  • Prepare comprehensive commercial credit memoranda and approval packages supported by financial modeling and cash flow analysis on loan relationships up to Executive level approval.
  • Monitor financial reporting requirements and covenant compliance to support ongoing portfolio risk management.
  • Ensure credit files remain current, complete, and compliant with internal policy and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate financial spreading and documentation within nCino and Document Manager systems.
  • Collaborate with loan officers and credit team members to support underwriting standards, workflow efficiency, and timely portfolio management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
