To learn more about GSCY, visit our website: http://gscymca.org Position Summary: The Marketing Team is looking for a mission-driven, eager to learn, Creative Assistant . The Creative Assistant is a part-time (16 hours per week during standard business hours, in office), entry-level role that supports the association-wide Marketing & Communications team through hands-on graphic design production. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing & Communications, this role focuses on the production of marketing deliverables, and supporting the day-to-day workflow of marketing projects across print and digital channels. This position is ideal for an early-career graphic designer looking to build professional experience in a fast-paced, mission-driven organization.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communications, or a related field preferred; comparable professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 0–2 years of professional or internship experience in graphic design or visual communications.
  • Digital portfolio of relevant design work. (Please submit link when applying.)
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with basic print production concepts (file setup, bleeds, resolution, formats).
  • Comfort using Microsoft 365 tools and shared file systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established brand guidelines.
  • Ability to receive direction, manage feedback, and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid pivots; a proactive problem-solver who enjoys a brisk pace.
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset, viewing every challenge as an opportunity to learn and every teammate as a potential collaborator.

Responsibilities

  • Support the production of marketing and communication materials across print and digital platforms, including flyers, signage, social media graphics, email graphics, presentations, forms, and basic web assets.
  • Assist with preparing files for print and digital distribution, ensuring accuracy, formatting, and adherence to YMCA brand standards.
  • Make routine design updates, revisions, resizing, and versioning based on provided direction and established templates.
  • Organize and maintain creative files, assets, and templates within shared digital systems (SharePoint and related platforms).
  • Support the Senior Creative Director with project coordination tasks, including tracking revisions, organizing feedback, and preparing materials for review.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications team members to meet deadlines and support campaign execution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
