About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial leader to re-launch and lead the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Real Estate Merchant Banking platform within the Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) at Wells Fargo. This newly created role will build and lead a team responsible for developing and executing a differentiated strategy focused on opportunistic lending, portfolio purchases, and portfolio financing across traditional and non-traditional commercial real estate sectors. The Head of Real Estate Merchant Banking will partner closely with CRE leadership, including business heads, coverage / origination teams, credit risk, and various other distribution teams (including securitization) to drive decision-making relative to CRE’s overall strategy. The function will be responsible for driving optimal risk-adjusted returns, calibrating risk appetite at both the transaction and portfolio levels and setting strategy around capital deployment. Requirements

  • 8+ years of Corporate Banking Relationship Management or leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience

  • Develop annual business plans and direct the group in implementation of these plans
  • Interpret and develop range of policies and procedures for functions with moderate to higher complexity and risk
  • Manage risks in the business
  • Collaborate with and influence all levels of professionals, including leadership
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
