Coverage and Legal Writing Attorney – Insurance Defense
About The Position
Insurance defense law firm is seeking a Coverage and Legal Writing Attorney with exceptional analytical and writing skills. This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys deep legal analysis, complex case evaluations, and crafting high-level legal documents. The ideal candidate will support our litigation team by providing strategic legal insight and producing high-quality work product across a broad range of matters, including premises liability, personal injury, workers' compensation, auto claims, and maritime law. This position will play a key role in preparing coverage opinions, dispositive motions, settlement agreements, trial and appellate briefs and detailed case evaluations.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing with The Florida Bar.
- 2+ years of legal experience preferred; coverage and/or litigation writing experience a plus.
- Strong legal writing, analytical thinking, and research skills are required.
- Ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with CGL, auto, maritime, and workers' compensation insurance policies.
- Experience drafting summary judgment motions, coverage letters, and legal memoranda.
- Background in appellate work, law review, or judicial clerkship a plus.
Responsibilities
- Draft and analyze insurance coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and denial letters.
- Prepare dispositive motions (motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment) and supporting memoranda.
- Assist with strategic case evaluations, including liability and damages assessments.
- Draft, review, and revise settlement agreements, releases, and related documentation.
- Conduct legal research and prepare complex legal memoranda and trial or appellate briefs.
- Collaborate with trial attorneys to develop litigation strategies.
- Monitor legal developments and prepare updates or alerts for internal and client use.
