About The Position

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Misdemeanor and Traffic Division, the Court Services Clerk 4 is responsible for accepting or rejecting potential criminal misdemeanor cases electronically submitted by the Prosecutor, issuing arrest warrants, processing court orders and issuing pertinent documents related to driving privileges, and granting orders that may be handled administratively. This position is covered under the Superior Court Employee Handbook. This is an employee-at-will position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a stressful team environment
  • Aptitude to be cross-trained in multiple court processes
  • Knowledge of statutory requirements, legal terminology and operations of Allen Superior Court
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to establish work priorities, while maintaining concentration and deadlines
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with state and local governmental entities, law enforcement agencies, defendants, and the general public as well as other court personnel
  • Familiar with the Odyssey Case Management System including Task Manager Queues and INcite – Clerk Review Portal, BMV Portal, and Protection Order Registry Applications.
  • Ability to use computer, scanner, copier, fax, multi-line telephones, printers and other job-related equipment
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office and other job-related software
  • Ability to type accurately at least 40 WPM

Responsibilities

  • Accepts or rejects new criminal misdemeanor cases electronically submitted by the Prosecutor’s Office.
  • Schedules initial hearings in appropriate courtrooms based on custody, offenses charged, and date of arrest.
  • Confirm the data in INcite interfaced with Odyssey, updating and adding additional required information.
  • Processes all orders of conditional release and bonds posted by commercial sureties.
  • Issues and audits all arrest warrants in criminal misdemeanor, infraction, and ordinance violation cases.
  • Issues and transmits necessary documents related to OWI cases to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and monitoring agencies.
  • Researches and troubleshoots BMV transmission errors.
  • Processes and grants Pretrial Diversion and Infraction Deferral motions that are handled administratively.
  • Answers a high volume of telephone inquiries related to misdemeanor, infraction, and ordinance violation cases in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Follows strict adherence to Indiana code, local rules, and requirements of the Allen Superior Court.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned, including overtime as required.
