We welcome all candidates who are inspired by our work and mission. The Jackson County Circuit Court in Medford, Oregon, is hiring a Civil Intake Clerk/Cashier (Court Operations Clerk). In this role, you will open new cases and process documents for civil, family, probate, landlord/tenant, and small claims matters. You will update case information in the electronic case management system. You will update multiple court calendars by scheduling cases and hearings. You will prepare and certify copies. You will also process and route mail. You will provide customer service by answering questions from the public, attorneys, and agencies. The support you provide will be in person at the counter, over the phone, and in writing. As a cashier, you will process payments made at the counter and through the mail. You will also balance your cash drawer each day. Part of your time will be spent providing coverage for Court Operations Clerks in another unit. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of responsible clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to one (1) year of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting.
  • Experience using a variety of software programs to access and input information and complete various tasks.
  • Experience providing customer service to a variety of people in challenging circumstances.
  • Experience handling cash or credit card transactions and generating receipts.

Responsibilities

Benefits

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.

  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job.
  • You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.
