About The Position

The Court Clerk position is responsible for performing a variety of accurate clerical and record keeping work to ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures, and to perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. You must be of high moral character and possess integrity, have consistently demonstrated sound judgment and responsibility. Protection of confidential information is required.

Requirements

  • Education: High School diploma or Graduate Equivalency Degree (G.E.D.) required, with some college desired.
  • Licensing: Washington State Drivers License.
  • Other: Basic personal computer skills are required, as well as the ability to learn word-processing, spreadsheet and other software programs.
  • Ability to learn, understand and support Tribal laws is required; basic understanding of legal procedures is desired.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and legal documents.
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently, knowledge of office equipment and practices.
  • Must not have a criminal history.
  • Local, statewide and out of state travel may be required.
  • Regularly required to finger, handle, reach with hands and arms
  • Frequently required to walk, sit, stand
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Normal audio and visual acuity

Responsibilities

  • Maintain court records and systems, appropriately documenting each case brought before the court.
  • Assist in processing incoming and outgoing court orders.
  • Copying, filing, and distributing court documents to individual parties.
  • Interact with clients in the office, or on the telephone in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Attend court sessions and if requested provide support services to the judge and prosecutor as their work relates to tribal cases.
