Position Highlights The Oregon Court of Appeals is hiring a Judicial Assistant for the Settlement Conference Program (Court Operations Associate). In this role… You will provide complex administrative support to the judges of the Oregon Court of Appeals (COA) and/or the Appellate Settlement Conference Program (ASCP). This position will be assigned primarily to support the ASCP. Duties involved in supporting the ASCP may include, but are not limited to, providing operational and administrative support to the ASCP Director; preparing and entering ASCP orders; reviewing and analyzing appeals referred to the ASCP for eligibility requirements; researching and analyzing statistics for the ASCP Director. This position will be assigned secondarily to provide backup administrative support for the work of the judges of the Court of Appeals. Duties involved in supporting the work of the judges of the Court of Appeals may include, but are not limited to, providing opinion-drafting and publication support to individually assigned judges; preparing briefs; maintaining judges’ calendars and shared drives; case management; processing orders; maintaining dockets; and more. You will provide office support by answering questions via phone/email; maintaining the office library; providing backup to other judicial assistants; and setting up meetings, conferences, and mediations either in-person or remote. Requirements

  • The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent AND At least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents OR Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Experience answering general questions and explaining rules, policies, and procedures to customers both internal and external.
  • Experience using a computer for data entry, scheduling, and to manage and maintain records; experience must have been within the past five years.
  • Experience working with and safeguarding sensitive, controversial, and/or confidential information.
  • Experience ensuring the accuracy of forms, memos, or other documents.
  • Experience editing documents for format and style based on established conventions.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, track information, and communicate needed changes to the appropriate person with tact and diplomacy.

Benefits

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees [OR up to 99% of medical insurance premiums for part-time employees], including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $25.55 - $39.64. [OR The annual salary for this position is $53,136 - $82,440.]

  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job!
