About The Position

District Court 33, serving Davidson County, seeks a qualified candidate to perform a variety of secretarial and administrative tasks for the Chief District Court Judge and other District Court judges in the 33rd judicial district. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Employee is one of the public-facing officials in the office and will facilitate communication to, from, within, and between judicial offices, attorneys and the public. Employee will assist in obtaining signatures on orders and judgments from court as well as running reports related to management of cases. This position also requires the employee to order and distribute office supplies. On some occasions this employee may provide support to the Court Coordinator, the Court Manager and the Custody Mediator in the programs managed by the District Court Judges office. Responding to inquiries received by the Judges' office and supporting the judges in the administration of justice will be one of the main duties of this position.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: court rules and procedures; general office procedures; grammar and punctuation; word processing; commonly used rules, procedures, or methods, to perform assignments.
  • Skills in: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to: screen communications and based on content, handle independently or route to proper destination; apply grammar and punctuation rules; type with accuracy and speed; spell accurately; use judgment in organizing and establishing document format; give basic information and instructions regarding programs or office based on inquires; operate office equipment such as copier, calculator, fax machine, computer, and telephones.
  • Graduation from high school and two (2) years of experience as a legal secretary or paralegal; or an associate degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
