SALARY RANGE: $39,511.00 - $57,438.00 The Trial Court Administrator's Office, 14th Judicial District, serving Cumberland County, seeks a qualified candidate to provide direct customer service in a busy front desk position and to perform a variety of duties in support of judges in the Judicial District. Work hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: court rules and procedures; general office procedures; grammar and punctuation; word processing; commonly used rules, procedures, or methods, to perform assignments.
  • Skills in: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • Ability to: screen communications and based on content, handle independently or route to proper destination; apply grammar and punctuation rules; type with accuracy and speed; spell accurately; use judgment in organizing and establishing document format; give basic information and instructions regarding programs or office based on inquires; operate office equipment such as copier, calculator, fax machine, computer, and telephones.
  • Graduation from high school and two (2) years of experience as a legal secretary or paralegal; or an Associate degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Attach cover letter and résumé.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative assistance in connection with civil case management and criminal defendant inmate motions.
  • Screen callers and visitors, answer inquiries, secure and give information.
  • Screen and route mail according to contents of communication including email.
  • Schedule appointments and meetings, make travel arrangements, and maintain administrative records for the office.
  • Order and distribute office supplies.
  • Copy, file, and retrieve materials and perform periodic follow-up activities.
  • Compose and prepare materials including correspondence, reports, and legal documents.
  • May prepare and distribute calendars and answer questions regarding status of cases.
  • May provide support services to other programs in the district such as arbitration, mediation, criminal, or civil case management.
  • May assist with jury management operations.
  • May coordinate court reporting services.
  • Any additional tasks assigned by the Senior Resident Superior Court Judge.
