About The Position

This position, a Courier, is responsible for transporting various materials including supplies, documents, records, medications, lab tests, and equipment. The role involves performing daily pickup and delivery services on assigned routes and to specific locations within those routes. Key aspects include vehicle maintenance, maintaining a clean work environment, effective communication with supervisors, and meticulous record-keeping for routes and vehicle logs. The courier must handle products and goods safely, ensuring the confidentiality of patient identifiable information. There is also a possibility of cross-training in order entry and order picking, and covering storeroom or non-clinical duties as needed. Adherence to organizational policies, state guidelines, and safety regulations is paramount, requiring a constant state of alertness and safe work practices.

Requirements

  • One year experience
  • Proof of motor vehicle liability insurance that meets minimum state requirements upon hire and upon request.
  • Driving Record - Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Driver’s License State of Issuance

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily route to include pickup and delivery service of supplies, lab specimens, pharmaceuticals, equipment, clean linen, mail, etc. to assigned locations on assigned routes.
  • Inspects assigned vehicle and engine visually.
  • Ensures daily and monthly vehicle maintenance is performed to include oil maintenance, water, washer fluid and ensures tires are in good condition.
  • Proactively reports any problems with the vehicle to management.
  • Maintains a clean work environment by ensuring vehicles are washed on a regular basis and the work area is kept in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
  • Communicates with supervisor and/or dispatcher if problems or delays are incurred while on the route.
  • Utilizes cell phone or two-way radio to communicate in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintains and submits monthly route/vehicle log to management at the end of the month.
  • Submits all gas receipts on a weekly basis.
  • Transports and lifts products and goods in a manner that is safe and protects items that might contain patient identifiable information and confidentiality at all times.
  • May be cross-trained in order entry and order picking.
  • May be asked to cover the storeroom or non-clinical duties as needed or as time permits.
  • Follows established organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as well as state guidelines and safety regulations.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
