About The Position

The Courier position at SGS involves driving a company vehicle to deliver or pick up client samples and packages within a specified area. This role operates on a routed schedule, requiring adherence to traffic laws and established transportation procedures. Key responsibilities include loading and unloading materials, reporting vehicle mechanical problems, and performing routine vehicle inspections and maintenance (gas, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes). The courier is also responsible for maintaining records such as vehicle logs, cargo records, or billing statements in accordance with company regulations, and utilizing automatic routing or location software like GPS. The role directly reports to a Client Service Supervisor, Client Ambassador, or Director of Operations and requires compliance with ISO 17025 standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED Required
  • Valid Drivers License Required
  • Clean driving record Required
  • Is punctual, reliable, and exercises good judgment
  • Ability to interact with clients as a responsible representative of the company
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast paced, highly professional environment.
  • Close Vision (clear vision at 20 inches/50 centimeters or less) Required
  • Distance Vision (clear vision at 20 feet/6 meters or more) Required
  • Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given post) Required
  • Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distance and three-dimensional relationship) Required
  • Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus) Required
  • Ability to see color Required

Responsibilities

  • Operate on a routed schedule for pick up and/or delivery of materials within established timeframes
  • Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures
  • Load and unload trucks, vans, or automobiles
  • Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
  • Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with company regulations
  • Use of automatic routing or location software, such as a GPS, provided by the company.
  • Ensure that compliance to ISO 17025 standards is maintained
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned
