About The Position

The BYUH Theatre Program is seeking a dedicated Costuming Assistant to support our upcoming productions. This is a hands-on, creative position working directly with the Production Manager/Costumer to bring characters to life on stage.

Requirements

• High School
• Basic to intermediate sewing skills (by hand and machine)
• Experience with garment construction, alteration, or pattern use
• A creative eye for design, color, and detail
• Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks
• Reliability, good communication, and a collaborative attitude
• Willingness to learn and try new techniques

Nice To Haves

• While the primary focus is costuming, there may be opportunities to collaborate on photography and social media content for the department’s productions.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in costume design and concept development
• Sourcing fabrics, accessories, and garments
• Sewing, tailoring, and altering costumes
• Organizing and coordinating rentals
• Laundering, repairing, and maintaining costume pieces throughout rehearsals and performances
• Helping manage costume fittings and backstage costume changes
