About The Position

The Cosmetic Used Car Reconditioning Technician is responsible for performing structural, non-structural, and cosmetic repairs in accordance with manufacturer and dealership specifications. This role supports both collision repair operations and used vehicle reconditioning to ensure vehicles meet quality, safety, and appearance standards. The Cosmetic Used Car Reconditioning Technician is supervised by the Body Shop Director

  • Maintain required manufacturer certifications
  • Quality of cosmetic and structural repairs
  • Experience with cosmetic reconditioning including but not limited to: Minor body repairs Textured plastic and bumper repairs Wheel repair Spotting and blending paint
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Time management – ability to manage one’s own time effectively.
  • I-CAR Aluminum certification or willingness to become certified.
  • Minimum of two (2) years as an A-level technician or equivalent experience.
  • Possess all tools necessary to perform required work.
  • Motivated to exceed performance goals.
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 18 years or older
  • Possess an acceptable driving record and valid driver’s license in state of residence
  • A criminal history background check will be conducted prior to beginning employment
  • Clear pre-employment drug screen

Responsibilities

  • Review and perform repairs as outlined by estimates.
  • Communicate with estimators throughout the teardown process to help identify hidden damage.
  • Perform electronic measuring and pulls in a timely and safe manner.
  • Perform quality checks on work completed before and after painting.
  • Perform cosmetic reconditioning repairs on used vehicles, including minor body repairs.
  • Repair and restore textured plastics, bumper covers, and trim components.
  • Perform wheel and rim repairs as needed.
  • Spot, blend, and refinish paint to achieve seamless color match and appearance.
  • Weld aluminum, metal, and silicon bronze as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Constructively communicate with other dealership personnel to satisfy customer needs.
  • Report to management any situation or condition that may jeopardize the safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership, its personnel, or customers.
  • Maintain personal grooming, hygiene, and uniform standards according to departmental policies. Belts worn on trousers must be of no-buckle design to prevent scratching customer vehicles.
  • Arrive at work, take breaks, and depart work at times designated by management.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  • Ensure that work areas and customer waiting areas are kept clean.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
