About the Corrosion Engineering Co-Op Position Kickstart your engineering career with real-world experience that powers the East Coast. As a Corrosion Engineering Co‑Op, you’ll apply classroom knowledge to real engineering challenges that protect one of the nation’s most critical infrastructures. Each rotation builds on the last, giving you increasing responsibility and exposure to both field and corporate environments. About Corrosion Engineering Corrosion Prevention is responsible for maintaining the systems for preventing corrosion of the pipeline systems inclusive of line pipe, facility piping, and tanks. The Team provides oversight of various design, installation, testing, maintenance, and monitoring of the cathodic protection systems. The corrosion program includes corrosion inhibitors, coatings, cathodic protection and electrical interference mitigation. The team maintains compliance with all regulatory corrosion prevention requirements contained within 49 CFR Part 195 along with applying appropriate AMPP and other industry standards and best practices.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Corrosion Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Technical aptitude and hands-on mindset.
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • A collaborative, positive attitude with a commitment to safety.
  • Self‑motivation and enthusiasm for professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with cathodic protection surveys and system checks
  • Analyzing integrity and performance data
  • Supporting corrosion inhibitor programs, including data review and performance monitoring
  • Supporting the design, installation, and testing of corrosion control systems
  • Assisting with coating evaluations, inspections, and documentation
  • Supporting electrical interference mitigation activities and coordination with internal and external stakeholders
  • Contributing to compliance work aligned with 49 CFR Part 195, AMPP standards, and industry best practices
  • Partnering with engineers and field teams to troubleshoot and optimize system performance
