About The Position

As a Corrections Training Instructor I, you’ll be able to utilize your passion and knowledge for Corrections, to provide quality training through both in-person and virtual training methods that will enhance the ability of the department’s personnel. As an instructor, you’ll have the unique opportunity to work with the department’s newly hired employees and provide instruction for a successful career in Corrections through pre-service academy. This instructor will be a role model to new hires and significantly influence a recruit’s success while in Basic Training.

Requirements

• Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
• Must have two years of experience in any operation or program within the field of corrections and/or education.
• Graduate study in corrections, justice administration, or law will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Experience in corrections will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Teaches assigned and approved lesson plans for Corrections Employees and Other Participants of the Department and County Jails
• Assists with research and revisions to established lesson plans; develop new lesson plans and instructional class materials for corrections-related topics
• Coordinates class training and class preparation for training courses
• Prepares and completes all required administrative paperwork, testing, grading, and class-required reports
• Attends internal and external training courses
