About The Position

The Corporate Trainer plays a critical role in advancing employee knowledge, skills, and performance across the organization. This position is responsible for coordinating and delivering high‑quality training programs that support the bank’s strategic goals, regulatory requirements, and commitment to service excellence. The Corporate Trainer partners closely with Human Resources, Compliance, business unit leaders, and frontline staff to foster a strong, consistent learning culture within a growing community bank.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Education, Human Resources, Communication, or related field required/preferred
  • Experience in corporate training, preferably within the banking or financial services industry preferred.
  • Strong understanding of banking operations, products, services, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Learning Management Systems, and virtual training platforms i.e. Zoom.
  • Strong project management, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to assist in designing engaging content for diverse learning styles and levels of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Primary Facilitation Responsibility: Welcome Home Training
  • Facilitate monthly two-part sessions customer service foundations and internal and external service excellence strategies. Scheduled sessions on the ILT Calendar, communicate details via email/AppSpace, maintain materials, and facilitate sessions via Microsoft Teams.
  • Service Plus Training
  • Coordinate and facilitate Service Plus training for employees with 90+ days of service. Communicate eligibility, scheduled sessions on the ILT Calendar, communicate details via email/AppSpace, maintain materials, and facilitate discussions.
  • Unified Communications Training
  • Facilitate weekly Unified Communications training covering Outlook, Appspace, Teams Calls, Chat, and Microsoft Teams. Scheduled sessions on the ILT Calendar, communicate details via email/AppSpace, maintain materials, and facilitate sessions via Teams.
  • Celebrating Excellence Program
  • Coordinate and facilitate quarterly, two‑day programs focused on organizational culture, connection, and bank history. Manage scheduling, communications, logistics, materials, inventory, and facilitation.
  • Signature UI Core System Training
  • Facilitate monthly sessions consisting of Scheduled sessions on the ILT Calendar, communicate details via email/AppSpace, maintain materials, and facilitate sessions via Microsoft Teams Signature UI CIF Subsystems Signature UI Transactions Subsystems Signature UI Loan Subsystems
  • Training Design & Delivery:
  • Work collaboratively with Training Director to implement and continuously improve training programs for new and existing employees, including onboarding, compliance, customer service, sales, systems, and leadership development.
  • Facilitate engaging in‑person and virtual learning experiences using adult learning principles and varied instructional techniques.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, including manuals, e‑learning modules, job aids, assessments, and resource guides.
  • Deliver technical training related to bank systems, communication tools, and applications.
  • Support effective system adoption by facilitating employee proficiency with required applications.
  • Organizational Culture, Engagement & Recognition:
  • Facilitate Welcome Home and Celebrating Excellence and lead culture‑focused initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and promote service excellence.
  • Integrate and support the organization’s Strategic Plan by embedding the three cultural pillars into all culture‑related training programs.
  • Coordinate an employee recognition program by providing quarterly participation updates to staff and distributing vouches in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Needs Assessment & Program Management:
  • Support and review training needs assessments in collaboration with Training Director and department leaders to identify skill gaps, priorities, and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of training policies, annual training plans, and program evaluations using tools such as SurveyMonkey.
  • Track, monitor, and report on training participation and effectiveness using feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
  • Administrative & Department Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate training documentation across multiple LMS platforms, including:
  • TRC Interactive: Teller Solutions tracking, reporting, communications, and BAI score updates On‑Course Learning: Enrollment and monitoring Fitch Learning (Moody’s): Enrollment and monitoring Shockproof Learning: Enrollment and monitoring BAI LMS (ILT): Instructor‑led training administration
  • Participate in department projects, prepare correspondence, and support budget planning.
  • Assist with leadership and regulatory training reports.
  • Maintain standardized training templates on the shared S‑drive.
  • BAI Compliance & Learning Management Administration:
  • Ensure all training programs are current and aligned with assigned Roles and Rules within the BAI LMS.
  • Partner with the VP/Training Director and Risk/Compliance teams to review and validate role assignments annually (Q4).
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to support mandatory training requirements and ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records in the BAI Learning Management System (LMS) for designated programs within and outside the LMS i.e. Knots of Knowledge.Perform additional tracking and documentation to support compliance and reporting needs and employee performance.
  • BAI Course & ILT Calendar Management:
  • Maintain and update training courses in BAI, including management of the Instructor‑Led Training (ILT) Calendar.
  • Perform annual updates to Product Knowledge courses.
  • Design and create i‑Design courses for programs for example: Fraud Focus ,Spotlight Sessions recordings for future viewing and tracking.Publish and maintain quarterly ILT offerings, of core monthly/weekly training offerings
  • Signature UI (CIF, Transaction, and Loan Subsystems)Welcome Home (Part 1 and 2)Service Plus (4 Discussions)Celebrating Excellence Unified Communications Trust and Verify Spotlight Sessions Department‑specific training (e.g., Dayforce, Compliance, Financial Crimes, Retail)
  • BAI Communications:
  • Manage and distribute training communications, including:
  • New‑hire course coming‑due reminders Overdue training notifications Course failure notices (3rd, 4th, and 5th attempts) Manager notifications and escalation communications New employee, new manager, and transfer onboarding communications
  • Unsuccessful Course Attempt Tracking
  • Track unsuccessful attempts within the BAI LMS.
  • Unlock courses and coordinate reattempts.
  • Communicate directly with employees and supervisors regarding training status.
  • Maintain compliance tracking spreadsheets for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Onboarding, Offboarding & Transfer Tracking (Audit Support)
  • Track and document BAI access and training assignments for:
  • New employees Transfer employees Terminated and retired employees Interns Special employment circumstances (e.g., Maintenance, Custodial, Courier roles)
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Serve as a liaison between Human Resources/ Training and business units to ensure training materials and assignments align with operational needs.
  • Onboarding Coordination:
  • Maintain and utilize onboarding tracking spreadsheets for new and transferring employees.
  • Set up employees in BAI and distribute onboarding instructions.
  • Create standardized email signature lines.
  • Assign and track training milestones in 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, and 3 months.
  • Provide progress updates and conduct manager check‑ins.
  • Support onboarding follow‑ups at 2 weeks, 2 months, and 90 days.
  • Support internal communications through Appspace and assist with department updates.
  • Assist with coordinating external training consultants as needed.
  • Other duties:
  • Respond to employee training inquiries.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Represent Merchants Bank at community events.
  • Provide support to the Director of Training.
