About The Position

This position is based out of the MFI Technical Training Center in Norwalk IA. The Reliability Specialist is responsible for supporting the corporate ARM team, Engineering, & plant maintenance teams, to enable and deliver a sustainable asset maintenance program built on people, process, & TECHNOLOGY. The Reliability Specialist will focus on technology development, tactical application, and sustainability, driving continuous improvement in all MFI plants performance. This position has focused responsibilities in providing strategic leadership in the design, development, and execution of technical training programs across multiple sites. This leader drives the creation of high-impact training videos, oversees hands-on learning experiences utilizing Amatrol equipment, and leads the continuous advancement of the hands-on training curriculum. Serving as a key organizational influencer, this position partners with technical teams, HR, and program leadership to ensure training content is relevant, effective, and aligned with corporate standards and long-term organizational goals. As a central force in elevating maintenance reliability, operator care, and technical competency, this role sets direction, establishes training standards, and champions technical excellence across the enterprise. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related discipline) preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in technical training, maintenance, or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with hands-on training platforms (e.g., Amatrol) and video production tools.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and facilitation skills.
  • Advanced PC skills (Microsoft Office, LMS platforms).

Responsibilities

  • Must observe and practice all Department/Plant Procedures including wearing proper PPE, adherence to all safety, Food Safety and sanitation standard as well as follow all GMP guidelines
  • To improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of assets through the application of technology and technical Engineering expertise in providing effective, solutions to reliability and maintenance issues
  • Perform and Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), RCM2 analysis for critical equipment and FMECA (Failure Modes and Effects Criticality Analysis) for unreliable assets based on economic evaluation
  • Lead, deliver, and facilitate hands-on technical training sessions using Amatrol and other training platforms, directing instructional flow and setting training expectations.
  • Drive the development and production of training videos and digital learning materials, ensuring professional grade content that aligns with organizational standards.
  • Oversee and manage scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation for all training events for multiple sites
  • Lead collaboration efforts with subject matter experts to build and elevate the training curriculum
  • Champion continuous improvement by gathering, interpreting, and acting on feedback from trainees and stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership oversight to ensure all training content meets safety, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Partner strategically with HR, technical teams, and program managers to identify system wide training needs and close skill gaps
  • Guide and influence recruiting and onboarding processes by integrating technical training expectations for new hires
  • Administer and govern trainee progress tracking and training record systems with accountability and precision.
  • Lead competency evaluations, using expert judgement to validate readiness and proficiency through practical assessments
  • Own and communicate KPI results, reporting training outcomes and improvement opportunities to program leadership
  • Promote and reinforce safety as a core value in all training activities
  • Ensure all training practices comply with food safety, quality, and organizational policies.
  • Accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
  • Ability to travel domestically as required to multiple sites (up to 25%).
