About The Position

The Corporate Relations Officer – Principal Gifts works closely with the principal gifts development team to plan, implement, and coordinate effective multi-year strategies aimed at securing significant philanthropic gifts from corporations. The Corporate Relations Officer – Principal Gifts will cultivate relationships with corporate executives and align their interests with TNC’s conservation goals. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate fundraising and relationship management, internally and externally. The Corporate Relations Officer – Principal Gifts is responsible for managing a portfolio of qualified corporations and their foundations that have the ability to make multi-million gifts. They understand and apply principles of developing complex donor strategies. They will be responsible for direct asks to both global and local priorities to meet funding needs. The Corporate Relations Officer – Principal Gifts provides opportunities for donors to receive recognition and increase future giving. They involve and engage appropriate partners in the field and at the Worldwide Office, keeping them apprised of interactions, issues and/or concerns, and address questions as needed. They are capable of featuring the programs of the Conservancy in detailed terms and work across departments. The Corporate Relations Officer – Principal Gifts understands project budgets and may build proposal budgets utilizing this knowledge. They will develop a referral network as needed and may manage formal and/or informal networks of trustees and corporate contacts. They will be required to use the Conservancy’s donor database and may develop proposals. The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is a global environmental nonprofit dedicated to conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends. The Corporate Relations Officer – Principal Gifts will lead an influential corporate philanthropy portfolio mobilizing companies to drive transformative impact for climate, oceans, freshwater, regenerative agriculture, and resilient communities. This role serves as a strategist, dealmaker, and thought partner to unlock meaningful and measurable impact for people and nature alike. With a mandate to innovate and the backing of one of the world’s most trusted environmental organizations, the Corporate Relations Officer will shape high-value collaborations, inspire corporate leaders, and help accelerate solutions at the scale the planet demands.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years related experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents.
  • Experience in asking for and closing gifts of $100,000 or more.
  • Experience securing $250,000 in a fiscal year from corporate giving alone.
  • Experience in managing and tracking multiple corporate prospects.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, preferably in a large non-profit.
  • Experience working with fundraising principles and practices.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in current trends in charitable giving in the areas of corporate revenue, capital campaigns, or principal/major gifts.
