About The Position

The Senior Corporate Relations Officer – Principal Gifts works closely with the principal gifts development team to plan, implement, and coordinate effective multi-year strategies aimed at securing significant philanthropic gifts from corporations. The Senior Corporate Relations Officer – Principal Gifts will cultivate relationships with corporate executives and align their interests with TNC’s conservation goals. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate fundraising and relationship management, internally and externally. The Senior Corporate Relations Officer – Principal Gifts is responsible for managing a portfolio of qualified corporations and their foundations that have the ability to make gifts of $5,000,000 USD and more. They understand and apply principles of developing complex donor strategies. They will be responsible for direct asks for both global and local priorities to meet funding needs. The Senior Corporate Relations Officer – Principal Gifts provides opportunities for donors to receive recognition and increase future giving. They involve and engage appropriate partners in the field and at the Worldwide Office, keeping them apprised of interactions, issues and/or concerns, and address questions as needed. They are capable of featuring the programs of the Conservancy in detailed terms and working across departments. The Senior Corporate Relations Officer – Principal Gifts understands project budgets and may build proposal budgets utilizing this knowledge. They will develop a referral network as needed and may manage formal and/or informal networks of trustees and corporate contacts. They will be required to use the Conservancy’s donor database and may develop proposals. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years related experience
  • Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with corporations
  • Experience securing $500,000 in a fiscal year from corporate giving alone
  • Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors
  • Experience working with fundraising principles and practices
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in current and evolving trends in charitable giving, particularly in the areas of capital campaigns, principal/major gifts and corporate giving
