Corporate Paralegal

Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, LLPCharleston, SC

About The Position

Nelson Mullins, an Am Law 100 firm, is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Real Estate Paralegal to join our Charleston office. This role is ideal for a candidate with prior law firm experience supporting attorneys in complex commercial real estate matters. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about handling a wide range of transactions, including the development, acquisition, sale, leasing, and financing of commercial properties, and will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. A Day in the Life In this dynamic role, you will be immersed in a fast-paced Commercial Real Estate practice, providing vital support to attorneys while collaborating with other paralegals and project assistants in a team-oriented environment. Your responsibilities will include playing an integral role in all transactions, with a specific focus on preparing critical dates memos and closing checklists, analyzing title commitments, title instruments, and boundary surveys, preparing authorizing resolutions and closing certificates, and coordinating with all parties involved in a real estate closing. You’ll draft summaries and objection letters related to title reviews and help orchestrate and maintain the momentum of transactions. Additionally, you will organize and fulfill conditions to meet title requirements, conduct research on real property tax and ownership information, and coordinate real estate closings alongside your colleagues. You’ll also monitor the recording and issuance of final title insurance policies and manage post-closing matters. Beyond these tasks, you will handle commercial real estate leasing matters, including drafting, reviewing, and managing commercial leases, amendments, and ancillary documents. Your keen attention to detail will ensure all leasing documents comply with legal standards and client specifications. You will also coordinate with clients and title companies to facilitate the execution of lease documents and resolve any leasing-related issues promptly. You may also be asked, from time to time, to assist trust and estate lawyers with probate filings, though no prior experience is expected in this area. If you’re looking to grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and contribute to complex commercial real estate transactions, we’d love to hear from you!
