About The Position

The Human Resources Manager reports to the Chief Financial Officer and serves as a trusted advisor to the CFO and leadership team. You will be a key business partner to leadership and people managers, ensuring HR practices are consistent, legally compliant, and aligned with organizational goals. The HR Manager is responsible for leading and executing core HR programs and processes across the employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, compliance, training and development, and HR operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive human resources experience, including supervisory or managerial responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws in California and Michigan, HR compliance requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Experience supporting both salaried and hourly employee populations
  • Ability to handle employee relations matters independently and confidentially
  • Experience supporting multi-site organizations

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-(S)CP, (S)PHR)
  • Experience administering employee benefits
  • Experience using ADP Workforce Manager platform and other HR-related technologies.
  • Prior experience as a stand-alone HR leader or within a small HR team environment
  • Experience building or improving HR processes and systems from the ground up

Responsibilities

  • Leads Corporate HR Team, ensuring consistency and collaboration across the division and within the HR function.
  • Guides managers through the execution of HR programs, processes and strategic initiatives (e.g., performance management, recruitment and selection, talent management and succession planning, compensation planning)
  • Keeps abreast of changing state (especially MI and CA) and national laws.
  • Develops and implements processes covering HR related issues to ensure compliance with federal, state and company HR policies and regulations.
  • Consults with employees and managers to address root causes of human resources and business performance issues, making recommendations and implementing solutions to resolve and mitigate issues.
  • Conducts all, including the most complex, employee relations investigations either independently or with the assistance of legal counsel.
  • Identifies HR issues, develops solutions and involves the appropriate resources to ensure a fair, positive and timely resolution.
  • Participates with Leadership Team in evaluating staff needs based on the business plan and where necessary, cost effectively sources of external candidates.
  • Manages leave administration (FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers’ compensation, disability, and other leave programs), ensuring timely, compliant documentation.
  • Supports audits and reporting requirements (e.g., I-9, EEO-related tracking, unemployment claims coordination).
  • Manages the visa process and engages immigration counsel as necessary
  • Able to sit for long periods of time at a desk, work with computers and HR software (HRIS office software etc.) walk in office, warehouse and production environments and be a visible team member
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
