We are looking for a corporate EHS Manager to work in Jackson Michigan, Detroit Michigan, or Butler Pennsylvania. The Corporate EHS Manager is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and management of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, policies, and objectives across all JSP locations (Tullahoma, TN; Butler, PA; Detroit, MI; Jackson, MI; and Milledgeville, IL). This position provides strategic direction and technical expertise to ensure company-wide compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local EHS regulations. The Corporate EHS Manager leads and manages EHS personnel, including EHS Specialists and EHS Coordinators at designated locations, and provides support and guidance to all sites to drive continuous improvement in EHS performance and foster a strong safety culture. This role is critical in addressing company-wide EHS issues and ensuring consistent application of EHS standards.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive Knowledge of EHS Regulations and Standards: Deep understanding of Federal, relevant State (TN, PA, MI, IL), and local occupational safety, health, and environmental regulations, including OSHA standards and environmental compliance requirements for manufacturing operations (NAICS 326199).
  • EHS Management System Development and Implementation: Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage comprehensive company-wide EHS management systems, including those aligned with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Strategic Planning and Program Development: Ability to develop strategic EHS objectives, translate them into actionable programs and policies, and oversee their implementation across multiple sites.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage, mentor, and develop EHS professionals (Specialists and Coordinators) at various locations. Ability to influence and gain commitment from plant management and employees at all levels.
  • Multi-Site EHS Management: Experience managing EHS programs and challenges across multiple manufacturing facilities with varying regulatory requirements and operational complexities.
  • Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis: Advanced skills in leading complex incident investigations, performing thorough root cause analysis, and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • EHS Auditing and Performance Analysis: Proficiency in developing and conducting EHS audits, analyzing EHS performance data and trends, and using this information to drive continuous improvement.
  • Training Program Strategy and Oversight: Ability to identify company-wide training needs, develop strategic training plans, and oversee the implementation and effectiveness of diverse EHS training programs.
  • Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis: Expertise in conducting and overseeing hazard analyses and risk assessments (e.g., Process Hazard Analysis) related to manufacturing processes, equipment, and new initiatives.
  • Communication and Presentation Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex EHS information to diverse audiences, including senior leadership, plant management, and employees. Strong presentation and training delivery skills.
  • Problem-Solving and Decision Making: Ability to analyze complex EHS issues, develop practical solutions, and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • EHS Information Systems Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in using EHS management information systems (e.g., Velocity EHS) for data management, reporting, and program tracking.
  • Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in occupational safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive experience in environmental, health, and safety roles within a manufacturing or similar industrial setting, with a significant portion in a leadership or management capacity.
  • Proven experience managing EHS programs and personnel across multiple manufacturing locations.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
  • Experience with EHS management systems implementation and auditing (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Demonstrated experience presenting complex technical and regulatory information to diverse audiences, including senior management.
  • Experience with process hazard analysis methodologies.
