Position Purpose/Summary: Protector of health and safety for employees, guests, and the environment. Ensures compliance with all EHS legal and regulatory requirements and compliance as well as align EHS practice to meet client audit review accountability. Provides EHS learning programs, process best practices, metrics, and contributes to continuous improvement management. Direct Reports 2 - EHS Coordinators Outside contractors as necessary

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational H&S, Environmental Sciences or equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial company is highly preferred.
  • Practiced successful management responsibilities for EHS Compliance across multiple locations with large and diverse demographic workforce.
  • Knows how to align with government regulations and agencies proactively and reactively including required calendar reporting, planned and unplanned audits, and responding to claims.
  • Able to oversee worker’s compensation activity from preventative to injury/illness response including best practice, learning avoidance, and motivating behavior for safety awareness.
  • Experience with a staff for covering multi location and shift EHS prevention, learning, and reaction.
  • Can change tactics midstream when something isn’t working.
  • Strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Provides professional maturity and ability to be a change leader by influencing audience to embrace continuous safety awareness and behaviors.
  • Technology/Software : Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • EHS Learning tool selection, implementation, and regular use.
  • Verifiable experience with Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Systems
  • Communications: Is effective in a variety of formal presentation settings; one-on-one, small and large groups, with peers, direct reports, and bosses; is effective both inside and outside the organization, on both data and controversial topics; commands attention and can manage group process during the presentation; Is able to write and speak clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles; can get messages across with the desired effect.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to manage all EHS Programs and site compliance at multiple locations and across 3 work-shifts.
  • Achieve annual target rates for lost time, recordable, severity, and environmental.
  • Responsible for Workers Compensation: prevention to injury management and return to work.
  • Develop Site Standard Operating Procedures and maintain central files for all Compliance reporting at all Sites
  • Support efforts to fully integrate EHS leadership into the business processes and strategic plans, and ensure monthly reports, statistics, and KPI’s are reported on-time.
  • Identifies unsafe equipment operation and conditions while demonstrating knowledge of appropriate solutions to drive improved behavior and on the job choices.
  • Closely work with suppliers requiring resource support, audit, analysis, and resulting tasks.
  • Provide training and technical consulting to the locations to ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements, zero zone management system standards, emergency response and internal EHS procedures.
  • Participates on cross function teams as assigned.
  • Develop annual goals for safety performance for each of the Sites partnering with Operations Management. These goals will include both compliance initiatives, as well as plans for improved EHS results as defined by Key Performance Indicators.
  • Provides risk analysis, and troubleshoot/diagnose potential EHS problems/hazards and purpose viable solutions. This includes root case analysis, effective physical or behavioral control measures, and develop corrective action plans to arrive at best outcome.
  • Acts as the main contact for any Governmental Regulatory inspections for EHS compliance.
  • Maintain current knowledge of existing and emerging federal and local EHS laws and regulations
  • Maintain professional certifications and training requirements needed for the position.
  • Timely and accurate completion of all regulatory and company reporting
  • Identifies and implements useful problem solving options to EHS objectives and/or issues
  • Provides improvement options that positively impact the company objectives
