About The Position

The Regulatory Affairs & Compliance team within Cisco’s Legal department is comprised of lawyers, program managers, operational specialists, engineers, and subject matter experts focused on topics including compliance and ethics (anti-bribery and anti-corruption), global trade, cybersecurity, telecom, environmental sustainability, business & human rights, and various other regulatory practice areas and programs. The team partners with colleagues in Legal and functional teams across the company to drive compliance and impact. This role is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Counsel to advise on telecommunications regulations, lawful intercept laws, and other market access regulatory issues primarily in North America, but extending to other jurisdictions where Cisco does business. The counsel will collaborate with a team of legal professionals providing guidance and support on market access matters including compliance counseling to support product launches. Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree or equivalent from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed attorney in good standing in one or more jurisdictions where Cisco does business.
  • 8+ years of relevant in-house legal and/or law firm experience.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and understanding of telecommunications regulations and familiarity with lawful intercept laws.
  • Strong experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop, deliver, and guide effective, efficient regulatory compliance strategies and programs.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills to both business and legal audiences.
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies and industry groups.

  • Experience working in a large technology or telecommunications company or similar industry.
  • Experience exploring AI applications to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and the ability to predict and mitigate compliance risks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal advice and support on matters related to telecommunications and lawful intercept laws, including regulatory product compliance and licensing.
  • Track regulatory developments and assess their impact on Cisco products and services.
  • Develop policies, guidelines, and procedures to promote compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Advise teams on regulatory aspects of product development and launches.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering and sales, to implement compliance strategies that enable business objectives.
  • Partner with Cisco’s Government Affairs team to help shape evolving regulations.
  • Recommend pragmatic solutions to meet regulatory requirements and address potential compliance issues.
