POSITION SUMMARY The Corporate Counsel, Construction position provides legal guidance and support across the organization to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate Degree (Undergraduate degree in engineering or construction management preferred)
  • Active Tennessee law license with no record of discipline (TN state bar licensure a plus)
  • Minimum of three (3) years as a licensed and practicing attorney, either in private practice or in-house
  • Construction law experience (contracts and litigation)
  • Excellent analytical, multitasking, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong initiative, flexibility, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, both independently and in a team setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and management skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-attorney team members

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, analyze and negotiate construction related contracts
  • Collaborate with project teams and corporate leadership to identify risks and mitigate exposure
  • Assist with development of affirmative claims and defense of claims against the company
  • Act as internal support to outside counsel on construction related matters (investigation, collection of information, response to litigation related requests, development of case strategy, etc.)
  • Provide legal guidance to corporate leadership on various construction and risk related matters
  • Provide internal training to project teams on a variety of legal and risk management topics
  • Provide support for Sr. Corporate Counsel and Chief Legal Officer, as needed
  • Other duties as may be assigned
