About The Position

About the Role: We’re looking for an exceptional Controller to build and scale the accounting foundation at a fast-growing, venture-backed marketplace platform. This role is ideal for someone who combines the precision of a public accounting background with the creativity to design systems for speed, scalability, and intelligence. You’ll be responsible for owning all aspects of accounting and financial operations, from monthly close and revenue recognition to systems implementation and process redesign. You’ll work closely with the leadership team to ensure financial integrity as we scale, bringing a deep understanding of marketplace economics and the accounting challenges that come with multi-sided platforms, while building AI-enabled processes that make the function smarter, faster, and more insightful.

Requirements

  • Active CPA license and 6-10 years of experience, ideally starting in Big 4 or top-tier audit firms.
  • Strong understanding of marketplace business models and the related accounting complexities, including revenue recognition, gross vs. net considerations, complex billing and payout structures, and operational nuances unique to scaled marketplaces.
  • Experience in high-growth or venture-backed environments; you know what “building while scaling” feels like.
  • Demonstrated success leading system implementations (ERP, billing, expense, or consolidation tools).
  • Excited to design and automate processes with AI rather than simply recreate stale playbooks.
  • Energized by ambiguity and a fast-changing environment.
  • Curious about and comfortable with AI tools and modern finance stacks (e.g., Stripe, Ramp, Bill, Campfire, Rillet, Tabs, or similar).
  • Strong communicator who brings clarity and thrives in a culture that values intellectual honesty, speed, and excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Own the accounting function end-to-end, including GL, AR/AP, Revenue Recognition, payroll, and financial statement preparation.
  • Own accounting for a marketplace business model, including multi-party revenue flows, gross vs. net assessments, payouts, and the operational complexities of scaling a two-sided platform.
  • Design and implement scalable systems as we transition from outsourced bookkeeping to in-house accounting, evaluating and deploying the right ERP and other billing, expense, or consolidation tools.
  • Lead month-end close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Rethink processes using AI and automation, from reconciliations to variance analysis, to make the function an innovation hub, not just a compliance function.
  • Support strategic initiatives, including KPI reporting, budgeting, and investor-ready materials.
  • Operate lean by leveraging latest AI-enabled tooling to support scaling.
  • Manage audits and compliance (financial statements, tax, and regulatory)

  • Premium Healthcare

  • Lunch and Dinner catered on-site

  • 401k
