About The Position

STRATTEC SECURITY CORPORATION (Nasdaq listed STRT) designs, develops and manufactures highly engineered products primarily for the automotive industry. Headquartered in Glendale WI, STRATTEC has a history spanning over 110 years of providing innovative security, user interface and power access products including power sliding doors, door handles, lift gates, latches, key fobs, steering column & ignition locks and related solutions. The Company’s largest customers are three leading automotive OEMs in North America, but products are also shipped to other original equipment manufacturers (“OEMs) around the world. THE ROLE: The Corporate Controller acts as a strategic financial partner to the CFO and is responsible for the global accounting function including driving value creation, financial reporting and implementing financial processes and tools to support the Company’s long-term strategy. The Corporate Controller serves as a is responsible for development of finance staff, has significant interaction with functional and executive leaders and serves as a technical accounting resource. The Corporate Controller also performs analysis of financial results, oversees budgeting and forecasting, maintains the integrity of the accounting systems and internal control environment and ensures financial statements are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Key responsibilities also include leading the FP&A and accounting team in accurate and timely consolidation of month-end results, publication of monthly financial statements and supporting budget/forecasting and strategic planning processes. This role is involved in the external financial reporting process (SEC reporting) and must provide pro-active financial analysis to drive business results. Other duties include designing and implementing improvements in financial processes to meet the Company's continuous improvement initiatives, The Corporate Controller is an integral part of the overall corporate finance team (US and MX) and is involved in many cross departmental and strategic initiatives of the Company. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, have strong problem solving and interpersonal skills and excel in a dynamic and transformational environment. The Corporate Controller will also need to be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, delegate responsibilities, develop the team, be detail oriented and hands-on, while also being a positive change agent. Drive robust data and metrics driven financial reporting, planning and forecasting to support effective business decision making. Direct the preparation of monthly reports for management and lead the analysis of key financial trends and variances to forecast. Be able to explain monthly financial results and identify opportunities for improvement. Responsible for accounting/finance policy & procedure updates and serve as a key resource for technical accounting questions and US GAAP. Active leader and contributor in cross functional business initiatives. This includes creating or contributing to financial models for strategic initiatives, cost reduction projects, customer quotes and margin/product profitability reviews. Recommend and lead efforts to drive profitable organic growth, improve finance functional processes (standardization and simplification) and optimize cash flows. Key corporate team member providing finance perspective and contract reviews, requiring significant collaboration with HR/Benefits team, IT department related to projects/investments and corporate tax/treasury team related to tax compliance and planning Maintain appropriate relationships with external auditors, lenders and 3rd party consultants. Plan, direct and coordinate timely and accurate external financial reporting including SEC filings (10-Q, 8-K, 10-K, registration statements, proxy statement). Foster a team environment, develop finance staff and participate in finance recruiting initiatives.

Requirements

  • CPA with minimum of 20+ years of experience preferably with previous oversight of the accounting function in a public company.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting from a four year college or university.
  • Proven experience in all aspects of the finance function, a track record of supporting growth and business transformation
  • Must have direct experience in a manufacturing or products driven business.
  • Thorough understanding of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
  • Able to adjust to changing priorities-- ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - be able to communicate complex financial analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
  • Demonstrated ability to manage people down, across and upwards throughout the organization - ability to work collaboratively with the broader finance team.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, both with respect to managing workload and own professional development—strong work ethic
