About The Position

Under supervision, learns to set up and make cores; and performs other duties as assigned. Makes cores following established procedures; Receives job orders; Cuts metal wires using band saw; Cuts rebar using cut-off saw; Manually bends rebar using a wall-mounted fixture; Starts ovens and ensures appropriate temperature for Coremaking work; Bakes cores at various temperatures specified in instructions; Cleans work areas; Return completed orders to production control; Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.

Requirements

Ability to learn foundry core making, including shell, oil, sand and no-bake processes
Learn and perform oven operation and temperature control
Core making set-ups
Wiring boxes to reduce breakage rates
Training in hazardous materials ricks and emergency response procedures
Ability to learn Coremaking practices and procedures
Knowledge of hazardous materials risks and emergency response procedures
Learn to inspect own work for conformity with quality standards
Ability to use wall-mounted fixture to manually bend rebar
Ability to use hand tools, small power tools and air rammer
Ability to use cut-off saw, and band saw, and change blades, as needed
Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and related departments
Ability to understand and follow instructions
Ability to complete basic work records
Ability to interpret work specifications for different jobs
Ability to cut materials to correct dimensions
Ability to read and check equipment control settings
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stretch, lift, and carry materials and objects weighing 35 pounds or less
Ability to move heavier objects using mechanized devices or with the assistance of co-workers
Ability to reach equipment control settings
Able to use safety equipment and gear as required
Ability to walk/move about on uneven and/or sand-covered surfaces
Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined
