About The Position

The Truck Driver Training Program Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing an educational experience enabling students to learn and exhibit the safe operation of semi-trailer trucks through the use of classroom instruction, behind the wheel training and actual driving performance on the road and in the yard. Compensation for the Coordinator - Truck Driver Training is $45,240.00 - $52,041.60 annually.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience as a truck driver and 2 years of experience providing truck driving instruction OR 2 years of program coordination.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in related field.
  • Valid CDL with acceptable driving record.
  • Strong Semi-truck mechanics and safe truck driving practices.
  • Strong understanding of Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
  • Understanding of aggressive and defensive driving skills and proper and safe handling of dangerous/hazardous goods.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations, execute protocols relative/necessary to train students, meet requirements relative to legal, medical, DOT, Secretary of State, etc.
  • Develop schedule of classes and input into PeopleSoft.
  • Answer all inquiries about program, content, registration, etc.
  • Assists with program marketing and student recruitment, including the development and distribution of brochures, website content, news releases, and participation in job fairs and related events.
  • Collects and analyzes data on marketing efforts to evaluate effectiveness and inform future strategies.
  • Ensure that students are properly registered and entered into PeopleSoft, along with tracking financial-related matters involving student tuition.
  • Responsible for budget review and purchasing of goods, services and equipment.
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained and operable.
  • Develop and monitor annual program plan and annual budget.
  • Interviews potential students for program.
  • Tracks legal requirements of students (DUI’s, Felonies, Misdemeanors, Traffic-related infractions, etc.), and DOT.
  • Works on student medical requirements, as well as ascertaining individual marketability (at times procuring pre-hires for job stability).
  • Coordinate recruiter visits to support student job placement and job placement tracking.
  • Reviews and complies student evaluations and acts on any issues or complaints.
  • Handles customer service issues.
  • Responsible for outreach to various WIOA agencies (and other non-profit organizations), trucking companies, Secretary of State, DOT, truck vendors, repair facilities, etc.
  • Administers ICC’s drug & alcohol program and works with student drug screen consortium.
  • Perform related duties as required.
