About The Position

Leads the Student Tech Support & Library Circulation Services department to serve Triton College's on-campus and online students and community members; participates in committees and activities to enhance the use of educational technology and success of distance learners; and supervises full-time and hourly employees and student workers. Oversees service desks and processes and procedures for loaning all curricular and recreational materials and technology; trains staff to provide support for students' technology questions; manages library space reservations; liaises with IT and police departments; and contributes as a member of the library management team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • Two years' experience managing a student computer support area or library circulation department, including budgeting and purchasing
  • Experience working with students, faculty, and staff in an academic environment
  • Working knowledge of PC hardware and software, specifically using an ILS (Integrated Library System).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hardware and software products that are used in student computing labs and classrooms
  • Library circulation procedures and software
  • Basic understanding of networking systems and Information Systems support services
  • Understanding of methods for collecting, presenting, and analyzing usage data to make data-informed decisions.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills
  • Proven quantitative skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and interorganizational skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of administration, faculty, staff, students, and community members.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and continually improves the ability of Student Tech Support & Library Circulation Services department staff to provide in-person, telephone, email, and virtual support to Triton's on-campus and online students.
  • Oversees daily operation and maintenance of library circulation services, including loanable technology.
  • Interviews and recommends for hire applicants for the Student Tech Support & Library Circulation Services department full-time, hourly, and work-study positions.
  • Trains, supervises, develops, schedules, disciplines and evaluates the full-time and hourly employees and student workers.
  • Works with Library Chairperson to prepare annual budget and account for applicable expenditures.
  • Develops, documents, and updates departmental processes, procedures, and practices.
  • Organizes the collection of service delivery statistics and prepares monthly reports as well as ad hoc reports as requested, analyzing such reports to make data-informed decisions..
  • Serves on committees developing Triton's online curriculum and support services.
  • Manages the development and distribution of print and online tutorials covering student tech support and online curricular resources.
  • Supervises the location and movement of physical materials, including periodic inventories.
  • Reports the need for maintenance services for all library equipment and coordinates with IS/IT and A/V staffs for software and hardware upgrades.
  • Administers the Microsoft Office Specialist certification exam and other related exams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
