About The Position

Stark Library is hiring a full-time (40 hours/week) Circulation Coordinator to facilitate the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Library's materials circulation procedures, workflows, and patron account management, The ideal candidate for this position is someone who can demonstrate advanced knowledge of integrated library systems, preferably Sierra, a process improvement orientation, strong critical thinking/problem solving skills, and intermediate level proficiency in Excel. Additionally, the Circulation Coordinator must be willing and able to train others in circulation systems and procedures and handle escalated patron account issues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in library circulation
  • Demonstrated process improvement orientation
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively handle escalated patron issues
  • Advanced user of integrated library systems (ILS)
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of direct public service in libraries preferred

Responsibilities

  • Establishes, maintains, and disseminates patron account and circulation procedures to support Board-approved borrowing policies and ensure equitable access
  • Coordinates circulation workflows among departments to ensure efficient delivery to patrons
  • Supports Public Service staff by responding to inquiries, interpreting borrowing policy and procedures
  • Monitors account collection process, including automated patron notifications and third-party collections services, to maximize timely returns
  • Partners with Library managers to resolve patron fine/fee issues; arbitrates complex account decisions
  • Works closely with the ILS Administrator to optimize staff use of the Integrated Library System (ILS)
  • Recommends and assists in implementing ILS adjustments to meet operational needs
  • Serves as the system contact person for Interlibrary resource-sharing consortia
  • Provides staff instruction on circulation procedures, ILS system, and ILS-connected devices
  • Serves as a backup to the ILS Administrator for common ILS administration tasks
  • Runs routine reports and maintains data related to patron circulation
  • Engages in professional development to recommend technical and procedural improvements to Circulation and ILS processes according to industry standards
