About The Position

The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) is seeking a Coordinator of Workforce Education to advance professional learning initiatives that support regional employers, working professionals, and UMPI alumni. This role leads the development, promotion, and coordination of a diverse portfolio of programs—including skills workshops, micro-credentials, and industry-recognized certifications—designed to support upskilling, reskilling, and lifelong learning. The Coordinator works closely with faculty, content experts, alumni relations, and business partners to create responsive, accessible learning solutions that strengthen workforce outcomes and advance individual career pathways. The intended start date for this position is on or after July 1, 2026. As a key liaison between employers and UMPI programs, including Employer U initiatives, the Coordinator identifies workforce needs, builds partnerships, and ensures programs are aligned with evolving job market trends. The role requires a self-motivated, mission-driven professional who demonstrates initiative, perseverance, and effective communication across students, faculty, employers, and community partners. This position requires regular travel to employer locations across the State of Maine to engage directly with business partners and support workforce development programming. The Coordinator must also maintain an on-campus presence at least once per month, with scheduling determined collaboratively to meet program and community needs. This combination of on-site engagement and travel ensures programming remains responsive, accessible, and impactful for all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, workforce development, business, communications, or a related field.
  • Experience in program coordination, adult learning, workforce training, or community education.
  • Strong organizational, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and engage diverse stakeholders, including employers, community members, and alumni.
  • Ability to sell the benefits of credit-earning and skill-building course offerings.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Familiarity with continuing education for adult learners or alumni populations.
  • Experience using LMS platforms and delivering digital learning content.
  • Knowledge of workforce development ecosystems and professional credentialing.
