About The Position

Recreation & Wellbeing at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a dynamic, energetic, goal-oriented, and innovative leader with experience in nutrition education and health promotion. The Coordinator of Nutrition Education will contribute to Recreation & Wellbeing’s comprehensive food, nutrition, and outreach programs. This role is pivotal in enhancing student wellbeing, supporting the development of lifelong skills, and building a culture of health on campus. The Coordinator will support outreach and collaboration efforts, assist with operational needs of Nutrition Education events and programs, and supervise student staff. Beyond these responsibilities, this role serves as a key representative of Nutrition Education, partnering with departmental, divisional, and campus-wide stakeholders. Requirements

  • Successful experience managing food or nutrition education events
  • Established passion for inclusive and creative approaches to food, nutrition, and cooking with a demonstrated interest in experiential learning
  • Demonstrated success in providing positive customer service, problem solving, and critical decision making
  • Proven ability to work and communicate effectively with various groups, students, and professionals
  • Demonstrated adaptability, leadership, and organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, health education, food, or a related field
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, required.
  • Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist for the State of Wisconsin, required or must be obtained within 30 days of the start date.
  • Food Sanitation Manager's certificate ,required or must be obtained within 30 days of the start date.
  • Adult & Pediatric First Aid, CPR, AED certification, required or must be obtained within 30 days of the start date.

  • Master’s degree in nutrition, health education, food, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Completes administrative tasks for Wolf Teaching Kitchen rental requests. This includes tracking information, communicating with internal staff and external groups, and following room request timeline and room use policies.
  • Assists with the management of applicable software systems for program registration, sport management, and participation data
  • May assist with monitoring and auditing the unit budget
  • Supports Nutrition Education food programs through program planning, using internal communication platforms, outreach events, and executing weekly and daily administrative and hands-on tasks.
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources to support the operational plans of the program
  • May assist with the implementation of the personnel resource allocation plan including hiring, training, supervision, and resolution of personnel issues
  • Implements risk management procedures and ensures adherence to institution and divisional policies
  • Assists in leading and managing up to 15 Nutrition Education student staff through training, providing individualized support, creating work schedules, delegating tasks, providing feedback, and leading student meetings.
