About The Position

The Coordinator for Student Welfare and Outreach will work collaboratively with Housing staff to foster a healthy environment for students living on campus. This position specifically focuses on educational outreach, student development, and community health and safety of students living on campus. The Coordinator for Student Welfare and Outreach will contribute to the overall wellbeing of the resident population through case management (non-counseling) in coordination with the office of U of A Cares. This includes the representation of the needs of the students to the administration and, in turn, upholding the mission and goals of the Division of Student Affairs and University Housing. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in sociology, public administration, social work, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least two years of experience in program administration, case management, or related area
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends and issues in university residential environments
  • Knowledge of how to plan and organize events for students
  • Interpersonal, written, public speaking, and technical communication skills
  • Crisis management skills
  • Effective decision-making abilities
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, social work, or a directly related field of study from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Graduate and/or full-time experience with community living and leadership development
